The contents of a complete specification are :
Title should give a fair indication of the subject matter to which the invention relates. There should not be any fancy expressions and ambiguity. The title should be precise and clear. It should not give the details of the invention and it can contain a maximum of 500 characters.
Field of invention should indicate the subject matter to which the invention relates.
In the background part the applicant should indicate the state of the art as known to him when he starts the invention with reference to experiments going on in the field, granted patents and pending patent applications. The applicant should indicate the problems/defects in the prior art and also the solution to those problems.
The object of invention should clearly give the problems in the existing knowledge and the solution for that by giving the obvious difference between the claimed invention and the prior art. The applicants are advised not to give specific prior art because it may lead to obviousness. They are called as applicant admitted prior art.
In this part the applicant should state the first independent claim in the first paragraph and abstract in the second paragraph and the functioning of invention in the third paragraph. There is no page restriction in summary but if it exceeds 30 pages then the applicant should pay the required fees. Normally the summary will be of 4 or 5 pages.
In this part the applicant should give the description of drawings. Eg., Fig.1 gives the sectional view of the product. Fig.2 illustrates a front view of the product.
