When writing a biography, you have to find someone who has the time to spend with you, and that also has a great story to tell. This person does not have to be famous to have a good story, but someone who has had some public interaction is going to sell much better. Sometimes, even the best stories in biography writing will fail simply because the publishers does not think they will sell very well. If you aren’t concerned with sales, and you are writing a biography just because it is something you think you have to do, you can find any story or life that you find interesting.

Fact is important in all types of nonfiction writing, and even some things in fiction much be based on fact. This is the same with writing a biography. This means you have to pay special attention to the details, and you have to keep meticulous notes about what someone is telling you. You should even verify the facts by going over things again with the subject at a later time. This aspect of biography writing is very important. You don’t want anything to compromise your integrity. Keep detailed notes and save them in at least two forms.

Another important aspect of writing a biography is trying to verify if the story the person is telling you is true. If you were to publish a story, and it comes to light that the story is untrue, you could be in a lot of trouble. Not only can you lose money, you will lose any credibility that you may have. Use whatever resources you can to verify that the facts are indeed true for your own protection when writing a biography. In the long run, you will be glad that you took the time to do this.

Working abroad was a way to put this off for a few years. I was actually in a volunteer abroad program. They gave me a small living stipend, with room and board in exchange for international human rights work. It was a really rewarding program. Until you have seen how the other half live, you can’t possibly understand this world. My work abroad really taught me the startling inequalities that exist, and the need to establish a more just and equitable world.

The weird thing was how addictive the whole experience was. Once you get a taste for working abroad, sometimes it never goes away. When I started my work abroad, I was surprised at how many older people were on the same volunteer program that I was. Literally half of us were over the age of 40, and about 10 people in a program of 60 were over the age of 55. Soon, however, I understood why. There is a thrill in traveling that is beyond anything else in the world.

When I was working abroad, I was living in quite spartan accommodations in a village in the middle of Africa. There are plenty of other work abroad programs, however. One of the more popular ways to travel and live abroad is to teach English as a second language. There are many countries that will hire you to teach ESL classes abroad with few qualifications. This can be a great way to spend a few years checking out the world and deciding what you want to do.

Just be aware that working abroad is not for people who can’t stand to make sacrifices. Unless you are a CEO working for a professional company, you will have to face all the travails that a foreigner faces working abroad. You’ll meet people who don’t speak your language, occasionally be discriminated against, and frequently feel disoriented. Nonetheless, it is worth it in the long run. You will have the adventure of a lifetime.

Stop for a moment to think about all the Universities in USA. Regardless of where you reside, you literally have countless options at your fingertips. Let’s say you live in Kansas. This definitely doesn’t mean that you have to attend a university in Kansas. While it would be beneficial in a way, since in-state tuition is so much less than out of state college fees, you can still acquire scholarships and grants to assist you in attending a University outside of your state. So many Universities in the USA offer online courses now days. What does this mean you may ask? Well, it basically means that you can take classes on the web. How much more convenient can you get. Ponder sitting at home or in your apartment and taking a class on your personal computer. More and more Universities in USA are offering this option. Check any school you’re interested in to see if they offer them.

Don’t be discouraged by expensive Universities in the USA. Sure, some colleges do cost more than others, but that doesn’t mean they’re out of reach for you. You must keep in mind your high school grades. The better you do in high school, the more likely you will get into the college of your choice. Think about all of the scholarships out there that are offered to kids with excellent GPAs. Then there are federal and state grants to take advantage of. Never pay for Universities in USA or abroad if you don’t have to. Nothing beats a free education.

My mom spent time each day making a list of all that she needed to do that day or even that week. I always thought this was a waste of time, but in the end she always got things done. This was simply because she could visually count what she had to do and what was most important. I didn’t bother with the lists, and even though I tended to have more energy, I did not get all of my stuff done – ever. That meant to me that this simple form of time management was something that I should start doing. When I do it, it works wonders.

Other forms of time management may be a bit more complicated, but they tend to work on the same principle as the list. You can segment your day with a daily planner so that you can account for all of the things you have done and all of the time that you have spent doing them. This is a more detailed list, but some need this. If I find that I become more and more scatterbrained, and have so much more to do, I may very well have to go out and get a daily planner so that I can keep things straight.

If you are having problems with time management at work, you may have a bigger problem with which you have to deal. That means you may want to get some professional advice about managing time. You should think about finding good books and other resources that help you deal with time management issues that come up for you each day. These books are written by those that have great success with helping others get moving when there seem to be more and more things to do, and less time to do them.

Many communities still have stores that sell used books. These stores are usually successful in the right neighborhood. Some of these stores sell more than used books, but almost all communities have somewhere to go for a great selection of titles from the past, or for used versions of some of the newer books on the market. Those that sell used books actually find this is a great business idea when the economy seems to be in a downswing. Those that love to read may not have as much extra cash, but they still want to read. That means second hand books are the way to go.

You may also find that you can sell used books online, and it is an even better idea than selling them from a physical location. This gives you tremendous market potential whereas selling locally is very limited. Some will travel for a used bookstore, but most won’t. You can use sites like eBay to put up what you have. I know that I have personally searched for old titles, and found many of them on eBay in the past. Those who sell used books can do very well this way, or they may want to do that and have their own commerce web site too.

Some stores that sell books that are used have found good success in a mix of the two. They have their store, but they also offer some of their inventory online. They usually find they do better business on the Internet, but both do well. Some who sell used books have given up the store to sell online exclusively when they find that route it is going well. They do this mostly because of low foot traffic though the store, and to save a lot of money on overhead. When you sell used books online, you can easily do it from the comfort of your own home.

We’ve already had our first meeting, and were able to identify three major tasks that we need to take care of in the coming months. The first task is to track down as many classmates as we can find in order to let them know about the school reunion. This should be relatively easy since most of the people we graduated with are on Facebook, MySpace, or other popular social networking sites. For the classmates who aren’t on those sites, we can use free tools such as online people locators, directories, and the white pages. If all else fails, we can hire a company that specializes in tracking down alumni for school reunions.

The committee’s second task is set up a website where our classmates can quickly access the latest school reunion plans. We’ve learned that several companies offer free websites to promote school reunions, so this is definitely something that we’re going to check out. We have a very limited budget to work with right now, which means that we really need to take advantages of all the free services that we can. However, before signing up for one of these websites, we’re obviously going to have to read through the service agreement very carefully to make sure that there aren’t any hidden fees to worry about.

The committee’s third and final task is to order our school reunion merchandise. We’re planning to give away items like buttons and photo frames as keepsakes for all attendees, and we’re also planning to offer additional products for sale during the actual event. All we have to do is find a company that specializes in producing affordable custom merchandise for school reunions, pick out the items that we want, and submit our order well before the event date.

I’d heard that high school reunions are difficult to plan, but I think everything is going incredibly well thus far. I can’t wait for the committee to tackle all these tasks, iron out the final details, and then enjoy a great night with all the friends that we’ve lost touch with!

When I was in school, most reference books came in the form of encyclopedias. These are not something all families could afford, but those that could found great benefit from having them. Technically, my mom could not really afford these reference books, as they are very expensive, but she got them anyway. She wanted my brother and I to have all the help we could get. She still has these books for reference, even though they are way out of date. Still, they can be useful from time to time. I always found them magical, and I still flip through them from time to time.

You don’t have to buy this type of expensive reference books if you don’t have the money. You can find them in your school library, and you can also find them in your local public library. Both are great sources, though they are not quite as convenient as having them in your own home. That’s okay though, as they are there for anyone to use, and with a little prodding, your children will use them and see them as the great source of information that they are meant to be. These sources are great because they will be updated more often than you update the reference material you buy for your home. Encourage them to use both.

You may also find there are versions of reference books that you can find online. Wikipedia is meant to be a virtual encyclopedia, though the material found there should be double and triple checked for accuracy. You can also find reference books and materials in the form of a computer program that you can put on your home computer. These are really great and very convenient because your children may want to use the computer for information, and may do some of their work there. Reference materials may not guarantee good grades, but once a child knows how to use them, they may indeed do a lot better in their studies throughout school.

You may think of portrait photographers when you think of the photos that are taken each year by your school. These are great, and they will remain treasured memories. However, you have to make the most of them. You can get a simple head shot, but that might not mean as much to you as a shot with more of the body included. You will find that some schools offering portrait photography will have some props that you can use in the pictures. If your child is in a sport, take advantage if they have sports props. If they can pose with block numbers of their year of graduation, those make for great memories as well.

When it comes to other portrait photographers, you are on your own when you decide what you want your portraits to look like. You can do your portraits on your own, especially with the low priced yet quality digital cameras that you can buy today. Most take exceptional portrait photos outside in natural light. You can also go with someone who does portraits like Sears or many of the independent places you may find near your home. Ask for more uncommon shots that really show the personality of the subject. Those make for the best portrait photography in the long run.

When you are choosing someone for taking portrait photos, ask to see some of their work. Many portrait photographers have examples hanging in their place of business so that you can see what they can do. You may get some good ideas that way, and you can decide if you want to stay, or perhaps if someone else would be better suited to do your portrait photography. Though you may think going with discount photography is the way to go, splurge once in a while to get those truly unique and long lasting photos that may end up meaning the most to you in the long run.

This year, the parent teacher association bought lovely folders for all of the children. My daughter’s school sends a folder home each day with each child. The work comes home in it, and whatever needs to be sent back also goes into the folder to go back the next day. These folders are actually a very good idea, and would work well in any school. The parent teacher organization paid to have these printed for each child with the school mascot on the cover. I thought that was a very nice touch. Parents could have spent money on a folder for their own child, but it might not have been as special as these folders seem to be.

The parent teacher organization in my daughter’s school also makes arrangements and takes care of the students on picture day. That means that the work of organization this is taken off of the shoulders of the administration and teachers. They keep things running smoothly, and they ask for parent volunteers to help out. This school does pictures twice a year, so the parent teacher organization keeps things running smoothly without the school having to stop everything to get it done. They organize many other like activities as well.

The parent teacher organization does much more than that. They also raise money for a variety of projects. They may help with new landscaping, uniforms, or support a booster group for various sports. Each school has it’s own set of needs that the parent teacher organization will step up and take care of, as long as they money holds out. That is why it is a great idea to be involved with the PTA or the PTO, even if you don’t have the time. Just donating or buying what they sell for fundraisers can be a huge help and a benefit for your child.

First, the selection is much larger than the largest bookstore in a big city. The big name online bookstore carries many obscure titles, as well as a larger selection in every category. Just like the mall bookstore, the online bookstore has the virtual version of the sale tables in the bargain book section, with many thousands from which to choose.

Next, because you’re dealing with a database rather than a physical bookshelf, you can search for books under a number of criteria. For example, if you’re looking for a nutrition guide or some other type of reference book, you want the most recently published, latest edition. If you search by most recent publication date, you shorten your search time.

Unlike the neighborhood bookstore, you can often get substantial discounts if you buy two titles within a given category. Let’s say you’re going to be doing some investing in the stock market and want to learn all you can on rolling stocks. You find one good reference and up pops an offer from the online bookstore – if you buy this book, as well as another recommended resource, with different content, on rolling stocks, you save $5-$10 on the two. These can be good deals. You can read reviews from critics, fellow readers and the publisher before you decide. Often, you can read sample chapters and peruse the table of contents or the author’s biography.

There are some real treasures sitting in the bargain book sections. Some books are well written but lack a wide audience interested in, say, breeding tropical fish. The price gets slashed and you get just what you were hoping to find.

When you choose to inspect the details of one book that looks like what you want, a typical online bookstore also offers alternate selections of similar topics under a heading such as ‘readers who purchased this book also purchased these’. Some of these choices have valuable related content, but which you might not have thought to search out.

Aside from these benefits, the online bookstore usually carries CDs, posters and magazines. When you’re looking for gifts, you’ve got one-stop shopping. Last but not least, you’ll save some gas money and can shop from the coziness of your jammies and a comfortable chair. Shopping doesn’t get any easier!
