DNA vaccine is the technique in which the immune response is induced by injecting naked DNA of the particular organisms against that disease. This technique is primarily used in the field of biotechnology.

Total number of patents granted for this by USPTO is 9 patents. Some of the interesting technologies patented are given below. This technology helps the human race by inducing the specific immune response against the specific disease very effectively.

Patent No: 7,132,407 titled ‘DNA vaccine containing tumor-associated gene and cytokine gene and method of preparation the same’ with the abstract : The present invention discloses a DNA vaccine and the method of preparation preparing the same, which employs DNA recombination technique to co-incorporate a fragment of tumor-associated gene and a fragment of cytokine gene into a vector. The administration of such DNA vaccine can enhance the immune response of the host through the co-expression of tumor-associated protein and cytokine, and thereby achieve the therapeutic effect of inhibiting or retarding tumor growth.

Patent No: 6,943,152 titled ‘DNA vaccine-PCV’ with the abstract : The invention relates to immunogenic preparations or vaccines comprising, on the one hand, a plasmid encoding and expressing a gene from PCV, in particular selected from the group consisting of ORF1 of PCV-2, ORF2 of PCV-2, ORF1 of PCV-1 and ORF2 of PCV-1, and, on the other hand, an element capable of increasing the immune response directed against the product of expression of the gene, which can be a carbomer, a porcine cytokine, e.g. GM-CSF or a cationic lipid of formula ##STR1## in which R.sub.1 is a saturated or unsaturated linear aliphatic radical having from 12 to 18 carbon atoms, R.sub.2 is another aliphatic radical comprising from 2 to 3 carbon atoms, andt X is an hydroxyle ou amine group. The cationic lipid can be DMRIE, possibly coupled with DOPE.

Patent No: 6,818,442 titled ‘AIDS DNA vaccine that prevents SIVmac239 virus infection in monkeys’ with the abstract: The present invention relates to a plasmid carrying simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV)-derived genes. Particularly, the present invention relates to the plasmid pSIV/GE which carrys gag, protease, env and rev gene, all derived from SIV, but not tat and nef gene and the plasmid pSIV/pol which carrys SIV-derived pol gene; the plasmid pHIV/GE and pHIV/pol that are substituted the SIV-derived genes in the plasmid pSIV/GE and pSIV/pol by human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-derived corresponding genes; DNA vaccine containing the plasmid pSIV/GE and pSIV/pol; and DNA vaccine containing the plasmid pHIV/GE and pHIV/pol. The present invention offers AIDS DNA vaccines which successfully exert perfect medicinal efficacy on primates, giving a measure of success in developing effective AIDS DNA vaccines applicable to humans. The plasmid of the present invention can be effectively used for not only AIDS prevention by AIDS infection but also therapeutic agent for AIDS.

Patent No: 6,667,295 titled ‘DNA vaccine against feline immunodeficiency virus’ with the abstract: The present invention is directed to vaccine compositions that can be used to protect cats against feline immunodeficiency virus. More particularly, the present invention relates to polynucleotide molecules that can be used as vaccine components against feline immunodeficiency virus.
