Patent no: 7,059,348 titled ‘Drug delivery system’ with the abstract: An implantable drug delivery system has housing, a collapsible reservoir, a microfabricated flow channel, and at least one magnet. The collapsible reservoir is disposed in the housing. The microfabricated flow channel is connected at one end to the collapsible reservoir and opens at an external surface of the housing. The magnet is disposed within the housing adjacent a membrane defining the flow channel and is movable in response to a magnetic force to deflect the membrane into the flow channel for inhibiting drug flow from the collapsible reservoir to the external surface of the housing, and for pumping drug flow from the collapsible reservoir to the external surface of the housing.
Patent no: 7,104,988 titled ‘Cardiac drug delivery system’ with the abstract : A system is disclosed, for administering a therapeutic agent locally and to a depth within cardiac tissue. An elongate, flexible catheter contains a flexible electric conductor and supports at its distal end an implantable electrode incorporating a penetrating element, typically a fixation helix or a linear needle that penetrates cardiac tissue as the electrode is implanted. A therapeutic agent is delivered through the electrode, to the cardiac tissue surrounding the penetrating element. The electrode can act as a sensor, to monitor an electrical condition of the surrounding cardiac tissue, and to control delivery of the agent responsive to the sensed electrical condition. Several embodiments feature a distal reservoir adjacent the electrode for effecting transient deliveries of the therapeutic agent in minute quantities. Other embodiments are disclosed for providing sustained deliveries of the agents.
Patent no: 7,066,904 titled ‘Triggered release hydrogel drug delivery system’ with the abstract : The invention features a method for triggering release of a drug from a hydrogel polymer to tissue at a desired location of the body using a catheter. A portion of the catheter is coated on its outer surface with a polymer having the capacity to incorporate a predetermined substantial amount of drug which is immobilized in the polymer until released by a triggering agent or condition that is different from physiological conditions. Upon contact with a triggering agent or condition, the polymer reacts, e.g., swells or contracts, such that the drug is delivered to the desired body tissue. A balloon catheter is shown in which the hydrogel is carried on the exterior surface of the balloon.
Patent no: 6,958,154 titled ‘Spray on bandage and drug delivery system’ with the abstract The present invention provides novel "patch in a bottle" technology in which a fluid composition, e.g., an aerosol spray, is applied onto a surface as a fluid, but then dries to form a covering element, such as a patch, having a tack free outer surface covering an underlying adhesive that helps adhere the patch to the substrate. The fluid compositions have a unique chemical formulation that allows such composite patches to form in situ. Specifically, the fluid compositions include a tacky component, such as an adhesive, and a film-forming, non-tacky component. The non-tacky and tacky components are selected to be immiscible with each other so that the components undergo phase separation as the fluid composition dries.
