About the examination rules; the computerized Patent Bar Exam will be administered by Prometric and is available for you to take at any point throughout the year. It will consist of a morning and an afternoon session. Each session will last 3 hours and will be composed of 50 multiple choice questions. You will have approximately a 1 hour lunch break between the morning and afternoon session. It is expected that you will have to answer 70% of the questions correctly to pass. You may not bring in any of your own materials to the exam. The testing facility will provide you with an online, searchable version of the MPEP. This will be the only reference material you are allowed to use during the test. The facility will also supply you with paper and a pencil - all papers will be collected before you may leave the examination. The cost of the exam is expected to be as follows; a nonrefundable application fee of $40, a registration examination fee of $200, and a service fee of $150 to the administration facility. The computerized Patent Bar exams are administered by Prometric. After taking the exam, you should learn of your results immediately. You will then be mailed an official score report that will let you know whether you passed or failed.
