Wound Healing is the method that involves in the induction of new tissues at the site of the wound. Some of the methods patented in USPTO are given below.
Patent no: 7,129,218 titled ‘Use of rhamnolipids in wound healing, treatment and prevention of gum disease and periodontal regeneration’ with the abstract : Various methods are provided, including re-epithelization and wound healing with reduced fibrosis, particularly for the re-epithelization of mucous membrane tissues, most particularly for the treatment and prevention of gum disease and for periodontal regeneration, each of which uses administration of a composition containing one or more rhamnolipids as an active ingredient. The figure provides a graphical representation of the effects of topical BAC-3 on the rate of burn wound closure.
Patent no: 7,105,481 titled ‘Method for stimulating connective tissue growth or wound healing’ with the abstract : PDGF-D, a new member of the PDGF/VEGF family of growth factors, as well as the nucleotide sequence encoding it, methods for producing it, antibodies and other antagonists to it, transfected and transformed host cells expressing it, pharmaceutical compositions containing it, and uses thereof in medical and diagnostic applications, including methods for stimulating growth of a connective tissue or healing a wound in a mammal, which methods comprise administering to the mammal an effective amount of PDGF-D polypeptides or polynucleotides encoding the PDGF-D polypeptides.
Patent no: 7,094,754 titled ‘Anti-aging and wound healing compounds’ with the abstract : The invention provides inhibitors of matrix metalloproteinases that are useful for encouraging the development of healthy skin and for treating wounds. The inhibitors are peptides having sequences related to cleavage regions of the proenzyme forms of matrix metalloproteinases. The peptide inhibitors of the invention can be formulated into therapeutic compositions, lotions, creams, skin covering and wound dressings that facilitate healing and healthy skin development, discourage scarring and wrinkling and ameliorate the effects of healing.
Patent no: 7,071,166 titled ‘Skin wound healing promoters’ with the abstract: The present invention provides healing promoters for skin wounds such as rupture, abrasion, surgical incision, skin ulcer and burn. Coexistence of Arg-Pro-Lys-Pro-Gln-Gln-Phe-Phe-Gly-Leu-Met-NH.sub.2 (SEQ ID NO: 1) or Phe-Gly-Leu-Met-NH.sub.2 (SEQ ID NO: 2) with insulin-like growth factor-I exhibits a remarkable promotive action on healing the skin wounds. Accordingly, combined administration of at least one of the substance P analogs and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof with the insulin-like growth factor exhibits a promotive effect on epidermal extension and a promotive effect on healing the skin wounds.
Patent no: 7,041,312 titled ‘Wound healing compositions and methods of use’ with the abstract: A wound-healing composition comprises a wound-treating component and vesicles. The vesicles comprise a phospholipid which is a stable vesicle former and ATP.
Patent no: 7,071,164 titled ‘Anti-cancer and wound healing compounds’ with the abstract: The invention provides inhibitors of matrix metalloproteinases that are useful as anti-tumor agents and for treating wounds. The inhibitors are peptides having sequences related to cleavage regions of the proenzyme forms of matrix metalloproteinases. The peptide inhibitors of the invention can be formulated into therapeutic compositions, lotions, creams, skin covering and wound dressings that inhibit expression of vascular endothelial growth factor and encourage healing.
